Day 4 Hospital Bedrest, 30 wks 5 days

Hello Everyone~

Not much has changed over the last two days. Josh and I toured the NICU on Saturday. It looks like they have a great little place to stay when they are born. I'm am so pleased with our choice to come to Banner Desert, so far. The nursing staff has been awesome. They finally got me out of the labor and delivery bed and brought in a real hospital bed for me. So much better!

The boys are getting monitored every morning for their heartbeats. They chilling around 150 average and moving up a storm still everyday. They ordered a ultrasound this morning. The doctors wanted to check on the ammoniac fluid and the blood flow to the umbilical cords. Both of which looked good. I wasn't expected to go an ultrasound this morning. I thought it wasn't going to be until I was 34 weeks. I will have to follow up with the doctor tomorrow to see if there is any other plan.

30 and Day 2 of hospital bedrest...

Well Thursday the 23rd we went to our 30 week ultra sound, and we found out by the end of the appointment that I was being admitted to the hospital until the boys are born.

The boys are still healthy, practicing their breathing with their lungs, hearts are pumping just right, but they are still small. Morrison was at 2lb2oz and Dylan was 2lb5oz. I still have the Vasa Previa.

Mine looks like the one on the right.
So basically the main concern with this, like I said before is that if I start bleeding at home or not in the hospital, I will not be able to get into surgery fast enough to get Morrison delivered safely. They decided it is best that I am close to the OR in case anything happens. My cervix still is at 3.2cm so it is at a good length, but between all of the doctors I have talked to so far, they said it can change at any minute with twins. We will do another ultrasound at 32 weeks to check on everything. They are monitoring the boys heartbeats everyday too. They are looking to deliver the boys around 34 to 35 weeks. That would fall around July 20th to July 27th. Who knows, they might have the same birthday as their grandpa, Grise. What an honor that would be to them! We will see what transpires over the next 4 weeks. I have been given two shots of steroids over the last two nights to assist in maturing their lungs. They will be in the safe zone after 48 hours of the last shot. They said that the shot will last for the rest of the pregnancy for them. I got my first shot Thursday night. One of the side effects of it is contractions. Yep, I got my first taste of contractions. They monitored me and recorded that I was having 4 within a half hour. They gave Terbutaline, which help stop contractions, but man does it make your heart race.  I was up all day yesterday since 2:30am because of it. They also gave me 1/2 liter of fluids in 30 minutes to get me hydrated. It worked because they stopped. I haven't had any since, which was nice, we got to sleep through the night last night.

I am not on too many restrictions in the room which is nice. I can still get up and go for a wheel chair ride around the hospital. I just can't go more than 5 minutes away, so they can get me back here quickly if I start bleeding. I joked with my mom that she is not allowed to take me anywhere too far because I don't know if I would be back quick enough with her. :) I told I would probably be better off running myself.  All jokes aside it is nice that I am not stuck to the room. We might go and see the NICU today or tomorrow to see where the boys will go after delivery. I was told yesterday that even if they go 35 weeks, they will still go for monitoring.

I still have the rockstar husband. He has stayed the first two nights with me. It is amazing how our roles have changed and it is me in the hospital bed now. The good thing is we know how to handle it.

Another good thing we did a lot of stuff in the nursery when Maggie was here. It is pretty much set up. Just need to hang the art and curtains on the wall. So pictures will have to come later of that. Once my mom or Josh or whomever helps to finish it up. I will have them take pictures to share. I am really excited how it turned out.

So this is the updates on the Grise Twins. They are truly our miracle babies. We love them so much already. We just want them to get here safely. I'll do anything I need to do for them. So if any Arizona friends feel like coming to by to keep me company, come on over to Banner Desert Labor and Delivery Room 22, I'll be here. :)

30 weeks tomorrow...time for some updates...

Well I officially suck at this blogging thing. I haven't updated in about 6 weeks. I have lots of pictures to update, but I am putting them off until I find my USB cord for my camera. My sister was here helping me organize for my shower and I can't seem to find the correct one.

We officially joined the family life. We brought a mini van. It is actually a nice van. We got a black Honda Odyssey. It is Josh's car!

I do however have a few pictures to share this time. My sister came out to see me and throw me a shower. She was amazing! She helped me out so much. I love that she is so crafty. It is nice because where I am weak, she is strong and myself vice versa. Too bad she doesn't live closer.  We were going non stop all weekend. I could barely keep up with her. My poor ankles were non existent, they had officially turned into cankles that weekend.  The first day she was here, she got to go to my 28 week ultrasound. Here a few pictures were able to get of the boys.

Here are some face shots of Morrison.

Only one we got of Dylan.

The boys are doing good. They are measuring small, but everything is working great!  At 26 weeks they were 1 lb 8 oz and 1 lb 9 oz. Morrison is still going to give us some troubles. His placenta is sitting nice and low right over my cervix. It has split into two and is only connected by a vessel. I am going to ultrasounds every two weeks to check things out. My cervix was 3.5 cm at 26 weeks. My OB stated that if it shortens to 2cm she will put me on bed rest.  I went back to the ultrasound at 28 weeks. My cervix went up to 4.2 cm. It is looking like it is going to keep those boys in there, which we need them to do. They started practicing breathing, but those little lungs are not ready for the real world anytime soon. They gained weight. Morrison is up to 2 lbs 2 ozs and Dylan is 2 lbs. At the ultrasound, Morrison was breach and Dylan was head down. They had been that way since 20 weeks, but when I went to my OB at 29 weeks, they had flipped. It is amazing how you can feel them dancing around non stop, but I never felt them flip. So we go back to the ultrasound Thursday for the next update.

When my sister was she helped me sew the bedding for the cribs. I need to have Josh help me put of the curtain rod before I will take pictures. She made curtains for us too. The room is turning out great. I love it. The shower was great too. I will share some of the pictures and details soon.

My work peers are the sweetest. They threw me a shower at work. It a diaper and wipes drive. We stock up. I am truly blessed by their kindness. One of the directors is talented and made us a cake. The great thing about my co-workers is they knew it would important for Josh to be there too, so they invited him. I think it was mainly to carry everything out, but he didn't have the van keys with him.

Adorable and very very yummy cake...!

The packed up van and Josh's golf clubs. :)
