30 and Day 2 of hospital bedrest...

Well Thursday the 23rd we went to our 30 week ultra sound, and we found out by the end of the appointment that I was being admitted to the hospital until the boys are born.

The boys are still healthy, practicing their breathing with their lungs, hearts are pumping just right, but they are still small. Morrison was at 2lb2oz and Dylan was 2lb5oz. I still have the Vasa Previa.

Mine looks like the one on the right.
So basically the main concern with this, like I said before is that if I start bleeding at home or not in the hospital, I will not be able to get into surgery fast enough to get Morrison delivered safely. They decided it is best that I am close to the OR in case anything happens. My cervix still is at 3.2cm so it is at a good length, but between all of the doctors I have talked to so far, they said it can change at any minute with twins. We will do another ultrasound at 32 weeks to check on everything. They are monitoring the boys heartbeats everyday too. They are looking to deliver the boys around 34 to 35 weeks. That would fall around July 20th to July 27th. Who knows, they might have the same birthday as their grandpa, Grise. What an honor that would be to them! We will see what transpires over the next 4 weeks. I have been given two shots of steroids over the last two nights to assist in maturing their lungs. They will be in the safe zone after 48 hours of the last shot. They said that the shot will last for the rest of the pregnancy for them. I got my first shot Thursday night. One of the side effects of it is contractions. Yep, I got my first taste of contractions. They monitored me and recorded that I was having 4 within a half hour. They gave Terbutaline, which help stop contractions, but man does it make your heart race.  I was up all day yesterday since 2:30am because of it. They also gave me 1/2 liter of fluids in 30 minutes to get me hydrated. It worked because they stopped. I haven't had any since, which was nice, we got to sleep through the night last night.

I am not on too many restrictions in the room which is nice. I can still get up and go for a wheel chair ride around the hospital. I just can't go more than 5 minutes away, so they can get me back here quickly if I start bleeding. I joked with my mom that she is not allowed to take me anywhere too far because I don't know if I would be back quick enough with her. :) I told I would probably be better off running myself.  All jokes aside it is nice that I am not stuck to the room. We might go and see the NICU today or tomorrow to see where the boys will go after delivery. I was told yesterday that even if they go 35 weeks, they will still go for monitoring.

I still have the rockstar husband. He has stayed the first two nights with me. It is amazing how our roles have changed and it is me in the hospital bed now. The good thing is we know how to handle it.

Another good thing we did a lot of stuff in the nursery when Maggie was here. It is pretty much set up. Just need to hang the art and curtains on the wall. So pictures will have to come later of that. Once my mom or Josh or whomever helps to finish it up. I will have them take pictures to share. I am really excited how it turned out.

So this is the updates on the Grise Twins. They are truly our miracle babies. We love them so much already. We just want them to get here safely. I'll do anything I need to do for them. So if any Arizona friends feel like coming to by to keep me company, come on over to Banner Desert Labor and Delivery Room 22, I'll be here. :)
